Hair Procedures Glossary

Hair procedures at The MIAMI Institute are directed by Dr. Julio Gallo, a board certified plastic surgeon and early adopter of the NeoGraft hair transplant system. Use the glossary below to learn more about our hair procedures.

Hair Transplant

Hair Transplant. NeoGraft Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) System is used at The MIAMI Institute for hair transplant and hair restoration procedures. Hair follicles are extracted and transplanted, placing hairs the way they naturally grow. It does not require transplantation of strips of tissue, as did previous transplant methods.

GentleMax Pro Laser Hair Removal

GentleMax Pro. The Miami Institute uses the Gentle Max Pro laser because of its effectiveness, safety record, and consistent outcomes on the widest range of skin types, hair colors, and any area of the body.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal. An intense beam of light energy is delivered to a hair follicle, causing sufficient damage to prevent further hair growth, without damage to surrounding tissue. Results are seen with one treatment. Optimal results may require a series of treatments.

Thinning Hair Treatment

Treatments for Thinning Hair. Stimulation treatments are effective only in areas which have hair follicles. Regrowth is a slow process; it can take 12 weeks or longer to see results.

  1. PRP hair stimulation therapy. A vial of blood is drawn from the patient and centrifuged to separate the platelet rich plasma as a serum. The serum is massaged and injected into the scalp where hair growth is desired.
  2. Rogaine. This medication may stimulate hair growth in some people who still have hair follicles in the area(s) where growth is desired.
