Leading plastic surgeon and art gallery owner, Leonard Tachmes, MD, celebrates the fourth anniversary of his gallery at his new Wynwood location

Reception Will Be October 22

MIAMI – Leonard Tachmes, M.D., one of South Florida’s most respected plastic surgeons, is opening his art gallery in the Wynwood Arts District to showcase the work of emerging South Florida artists.
An opening reception for the Leonard Tachmes Gallery will be held October 22 from 7 to 10 p.m. at its new home, 3930 NW 2nd Avenue, Miami. Founded in 2001, the gallery focuses on providing exhibition opportunities for the area’s contemporary artists in all mediums.

“We are delighted to support the visual arts, which play such an important role in our community,” says Tachmes, a board-certified plastic surgeon at The MIAMI Institute for Age Management & Intervention, which is dedicated to stopping and reversing the effects of aging through surgical procedures, facial and body medications, and holistic treatments in a luxurious spa-like patient setting.

Dr. Tachmes’ gallery also highlights the strong connection between aesthetic plastic surgery and the arts. His colleague, Julio F. Gallo, M.D., medical director at The MIAMI Institute, has a family heritage in the arts, and has a significant personal collection.

The MIAMI Institute, located on Brickell Avenue in the Four Seasons Hotel & Tower, houses a collection of art provided by both doctors, hosts an annual “Phi Art” competition and features the winning work of art at the facility. In addition, The Institute’s otolaryngologist Robert L. Simons, MD, has one of the world’s largest library of photographs of rhinoplasty patients.

Dr. Tachmes is actively involved with the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami, while Dr. Gallo belongs to the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, the Next Generation - Performing Arts Center Foundation (PACF), Greater Hollywood Arts Foundation and the Miami Art Museum.

An expert in body contouring surgery and aesthetic surgery of the breast, Dr. Tachmes received his training at the University of Chicago Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering in Manhattan. He has written or co-authored 14 scientific research papers.

The Leonard Tachmes Gallery concentrates on identifying and developing a core group of emerging, mature contemporary artists who will create a consistent and strong presence in the expanding Miami art community.

The gallery’s opening exhibit – which continues through November 19 – features artists Eddy Lopez, Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova, Victor Muniz and Tommy Nolan. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 1 to 1 pm, and by appointment.
