Karla E. Umpierre, Psy.D. is a licensed
clinical psychologist with vast knowledge
in the field of mental and behavioral health.
She has worked with adults, adolescents,
children and their families in a multitude
of different modalities. Her extensive experience
provides a unique expertise in services
such as EEG Biofeedback, Neurofeedback,
individual therapy, couple/ family counseling,
group therapy, behavioral management, life
coaching and psychological assessment.
Dr. Umpierre has specialized in Neurofeedback,
a new and very powerful treatment modality,
both as a primary mode of treatment and
as an adjunct to the more traditional therapies.
Neurofeedback therapy has proven applicability
in the treatment of various conditions of
emotional, cognitive and somatic deregulation,
such as: weight management and obesity,
ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, sexual difficulties,
migraine, insomnia, etc. Neurofeedback has
also been successful in the area of peak
performance in sports and intellectual arenas,
and pain management. Her achievements on
this field have been recognized and reported
in interviews for, national TV and local
newspapers. She has received special recognition
by the American Psychological Association
for her research on the effect of emotions
on cognitive performance.
Dr. Umpierre is the Neurofeedback Director
at Drs and Associates' Doral and South Miami
locations. She completed her internship
at the Counseling and Psychological Services
Center at Florida International University.
As a certified Neurofeedback practitioner,
she has received extensive training the
application and skill enhancement of this
field. She earned her bachelor degree in
psychology at Georgetown University, Washington,
DC and master's and doctoral degree in clinical
psychology at Carlos Albizu University,
Miami, FL. She is currently a member of
the American Psychological Association,
National Honor Society- Psychology and several
Neurofeedback organizations. Dr. Umpierre
is a native from Puerto Rico and speaks
fluent English and Spanish.
