Ptosis is a weakness of the eye muscle which will cause the eye lid to droop. This can be corrected by tightening that muscle.

"Canthoplasty" refers to a procedure designed to reposition and firmly reinforce the lower eyelid by cutting apart and permanently repositioning the lateral canthal tendon.

"Canthopexy," on the other hand, refers to a much simpler and less invasive procedure designed to stabilize the eyelid by placement of a single suture.
